Food 52 Tasting: Mapuche Sauvignon Blanc

Submitted by sasha on March 7, 2010 – 10:13 am3 Comments

Here’s my promised Chilean tasting note, in video form. A great value wine — $10! — that’s like spring in a glass. Here I’m talking about matching it with a dish combining blood orange, feta, and mint, but really it would be great with anything citrusy, tangy and herbal. (Spinach and goat cheese salad, spanikopita, fish in a lemon/butter/parsley sauce…you get the idea.) For more of my video tastings, check out the very awesome Food52.

One programming note: posting this week will likely be on the light side. I have my diploma case study exam on Wednesday (wish me luck!) so must focus all my wine energies on that for the moment. Rewarding myself on Wednesday with a winemaker dinner that I’m very psyched about. Check back in with me later this week to find out more!

I’ve been drinking quite a few Sauvignon Blancs lately, for some reason. I think I am just so tired of cold weather, and I’m trying to nudge the universe into Spring by drinking light, refreshing wines. I hope it works!
I tried a Chilean value Sauvignon Blanc a couple days ago — Terra Andina — which I liked very much, and it’s only $8.99 a pop at my local wine purveyor! Love those Chilean wines, just love. : )

Definitely a call to spring! Lleyda Valley is another great region in Chile for SB.

    Oooh, thanks for the tip!
